10/15 - Shea Stadium - GAME #6
Reds 8, Mets 0
56,000 screaming fans flocked to Flushing to see the Amazin's attempt to force a decisive game 7 vs the Reds. As in game 1 the Reds would go to ace Lee Grissom (8-1, 1.76). New York had no choice but to go to the sore armed Pat Zachry who pitched so poorly in relief in game 2. Cincy's offense would jump all over the former Red, Zachry. A 3 run homer by Billy Myers with 2 outs in the top of the first set the tone for the day. Solo homers by Lew Riggs (2nd inning) and Alex Kampouris (3rd innings) helped New York dig a hole so deep they would never be able to rise out of it. Cincy added 3 late runs over the final 2 innings to cap off a 15 hit performance where they dominated New York on both sides of the ball. Overshadowed by Cincy's great offensive performance was the 3 hit shutout Grissom tossed with a tidy 108 pitches. Every Red had at least 1 hit including Grissom. New York never stood a chance in this contest as the Reds easily clinched the NL Pennant.
Reds win series 4-2
