Ralph Kiner sure looks like the odds on favorite to win the MVP award in the NL. He finished #1 in HR’s, #2 in RBI and #10 in hitting. Lee Mazzilli sure makes a good case for himself by finishing #3 in batting and in the top 10 in HR’s and RBI.
Rick Reuschel looked like a lock for the Cy Young before laying an egg in his final start of the season. Kevin Gross had a fine season for the Dodgers and led the NL in ERA by half a run. Carlos Perez will also get some consideration with his 7-1 record and 2.38 ERA.
Urbina and Gossage did a great job closing out games as did Neil Allen for the Mets.
