1980 Chicago Cubs – 64-98

CubsWin HOLY COW ! ! ! As we talked to Harry Caray about the upcoming season in KOD and how this Cubs team might do, Harry said he might have to change the words to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", to "Take him out of the ballgame".  The staff is lead by four, count 'em four, positively mediocre pitchers. Just pick one. Lamp, Reuschel, Krukow, and McGlothen are all liable to give you a positively mediocre outing anytime one takes the mound. If, and it's a big IF, the Cubs have a late lead, they at least have Bruce Sutter to close out the win.

Over on the offensive side the Cubs are lead by the big three, of Buckner, Kingman and Martin, who between the three hit a whopping 51 home runs. When the Cubs were looking to spend some money on the team, they were too cheap to buy a P....so this team has no.....owner.

Baseball springs eternal each season, but this team's well has run dry. But as always the Cubs will be in there battling all the way. As the manager of this team, I may have to join Harry in the booth most every game for several vodka and tonics.
